Beautiful stone farmhouse situated in quiet and panoramic location in Arezzo surroundings with extensive views on the Arno valley. This property is entirely fenced-in and provides large outdoor areas (2000 square meters), a private swimming-pool and nice areas furnished for open-air dining. This villas was restored with its original architectural features such as beamed-ceilings and terracotta-tiled floors preserved and offers nice, welcoming interiors.
The location is peaceful and ideal for relaxing and enjoying the surrounding landscape.
Distances: Subbiano with general stores 8 km away, Arezzo (railway station with daily trains to Rome and Florence) 23 km, the charming town of Cortona 50 km away, Siena 90 km, Florence 95 km away. The villa is set close to restaurants.
At guests’ disposal: large furnished garden with gazebo, tables, chairs and hammock, large private swimming-pool (10 x 5 m - depth 1,5 m – open from the 15th of April to the 15th of October), barbecue.
Parking within the grounds.
Extra Services: Baby bed available free of charge. Maid service by arrangement € 12,- / per hour (payment on site). Upon request it is possible to organize Tuscan dinners.
Pets are allowed by paying an extra charge of € 100,- / per week (payment on the spot).

One of the places where St. Francis is venerated, it is an important and beautiful artistic, cultural, historical and spiritual centres. Visitors flock to the site each year for its many charms and as St. Francis is one of the most adored saints in the world.

The mountain was actually donated to St. Francis in 1213 by Count Orlando Cattani of Chiusi of La Verna, who described it as the ideal place for contemplation of the bounty of God's earth, saying, “I have in Tuscany a faithful mount that is named Mount of La Vernia, which is really isolated and wild and perfect for those who want to do penance in a remote place or to those who want to live in solitude.”

If you are staying in or even passing through the Casentino valley in Tuscany, a worthwhile visit would be one to the town of Chiusi della Verna. The sanctuary of La Verna, founded by St. Francis of Assisi, is located near the top of Mount Penna above the town of Chiusi della Verna. It is said to be one of the most peaceful places to be on earth.

There are many visitors to these parts because this is where St. Francis of Assisi lived for his final years in solitude with his fellow Franciscan monks. The nearby Basilica Maggiore contains terracotta sculpture by the famous Andrea della Robbia. Also to be viewed by the tourist is the Chapel of Relics which contains possessions of St. Francis when he was alive. There is a tablecloth, some crockery and a walking stick.

The most unusual artefact found is a ‘disciplina’, an iron handle whip used in a common Christian practice of ‘Mortification of the Flesh’, where monks would routinely whip their own flesh in penance for their sins. A relic of the saint’s blood staining a linen cloth can also be seen here. It’s carried around Chiusi della Verna during holy celebrations. After a visit to this sanctuary, a half hour of hiking would bring you to the summit of Mount Penna where the views are breath taking!

Not far from Arezzo are two towns made famous by their most well-known sons, Anghiari and Caprese Michelangelo, where Da Vinci and Michelangelo, respectively, were born. In both of these places you will find museums dedicated to these two great pillars of the Italian Renaissance and they are must-sees for art-lovers who are travelling in Tuscany and want to delve further into the lives and works of two of the most important figures in the history of European art. The Michelangiolesco Museum is an easy outing for those who have found a vacation rental in Arezzo, located within the province of Arezzo and a short distance from the city of Arezzo in Caprese Michelangelo.

While the museum was opened in 1964, to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Michelangelo, it can actually trace its origins all the way back to 1875. The Michelangiolesco Museum is housed inside the Caprese Michelangelo fortress complex, which is made up of three main buildings, the Palazzo del Podestà, Palazzo Clusini and the Corte Alta, as well as a garden that is open to the outdoors. Caprese came under the rule of Florence after the town submitted to the Florentine Republic in 1384 and from that point onwards Florentine podestàs, local magistrates, took turns residing in the town on an annual basis. It is in the residence of these local rulers, the Palazzo del Podestà, that Michelangelo was born on the 6th of March 1475 to Ludovico di Leonardo Buonarroti Simoni, who was the reigning podestà, in the area at the time.

Caprese Michelangelo is a charming village in the province of Arezzo named after the famous Master sculptor of the Renaissance, Michelangelo Buonarotti.
