The farm inside Valdichiana's heart. In ancient times the Valdichiana was a marsh and just before the land reclamation, its water lapped the property lands and a boats pier was only a stone's throw from the house. In 1300 an imposing building with a square plan and a mighty tower was built on this strip of land (570 metres above sea level) close to Arezzo, which marked the boundary between the two Italy, those of the Longobards and Byzantines. The fascinating building of military origin, still visible in the traces of battlements and in a few slit windows, has been carefully restored and transformed into a comfortable holiday villa. Thanks to this radical renovation the villa Torre di Vignale, that rises up majestically amongst thick oak and chestnut woods, has regained the importance and allure that had been eliminated by time.

For generations the Lepri family has handed down the mill from father to son, and since the early 1900's it has been a very important reference point for the local farming community. The road to the house (about 5 km) is a beautiful road through the woods. It is partly not asphalted, has some sloping sections, and although it is well passable with any type of car, for some it can be a little challenging, also because of the distance of about 12 km from Palazzo del Pero, where you will find some shops and a restaurant.
But after the green and beautiful route that winds through the woods, where it will not be difficult to meet some of its inhabitants, such as badgers or foxes, you will be rewarded with a haven of peace that has few equals. The city of Arezzo is about 25 km away.

The outdoor area of Borgo di Usciano is divided into various panoramic terraces, and you will be spoilt for choice whether to relax in the solarium by the beautiful infinity pool (size m 7x14, depth m 1-1,60), in the shade of a cool tree in the lower level of the garden, or climb the hill in front to admire the 360° panorama. Adjacent to the kitchen is the paved area with stone barbecue and wood-burning oven, and equipped with tables and chairs, where you can spend many evenings preparing and enjoying delicious grills. This is an old stone farmhouse that was completely restored during 2007 and 2008 to its true character and original architecture. During the restoration, natural materials were used to respect originality such as wood, lime plastering and handmade Tuscan terracotta floor tiles.
The property is well looked after and has a large outdoor area. The farmhouse dates back to the end of the 1600s and beside it is a sweet chapel which belongs to the family of the owners. There is also an ancient olive-press.
The farmhouse is subdivided into two rental apartments, both comfortably furnished and rentable together as a private villa. The family who own the property are kind and welcoming and live on the first floor but do not use the garden and the pool that are available to guests.
The setting of this rental offers a panoramic view stretching from the hills of Casentino as far as the city of Arezzo, about 5 km away.
Just 200 metres from the property and you will find a bus stop for a bus that travels to Arezzo. From the train station in Arezzo, guests can easily travel to cities such as Florence, Siena, Orvieto and Rome.
