“What a beautiful property and house. We were welcomed by Lucia and the owner of the property upon arrival. This property exceeded our expectations. It was well maintained and the owner stopped by every morning to make sure the flowers were watered and the pool was cleaned. We had use of the beautiful pizza oven and had a chef prepared meal that was fantastic. The property was located close to a train station that brought us to Florence in 37 minutes. All the bedrooms were air conditioned, which we only had to use one night. Best vacation ever- will be back soon.”

Close to the fascinating ‘Le Balze’ geological site in Arezzo province is the pretty little town of Laterina. There are some beautiful churches here worth visiting such as the Oratory of San Biagio and the church of San Pietro.

Stia is a charming town about 40 kilometres east of Florence and is nicknamed as the ‘Source of the Arno’ river. The true source actually originates further upon the slopes of Monte Falterona but Stia is the first town it flows through.

Visit Loro Ciuffenna

Loro Ciuffenna is located in the Arno Valley in Tuscany, Italy. When you visit Loro Ciuffenna you'll feel like you stepped back in time with it's narrow streets and alleys which date back to the Etruscan era. In the center of town there is an old Roman bridge that spans the raging currents below. An old mill, which recently closed, was powered by a water wheel for over 100 years and is still visible from the bridge today. Wandering through the streets is an amazing experience, if you're in the area be sure to stop and visit.

Loro Ciuffenna is located about halfway between Florence and Arezzo making it a great location for renting a villa. For such a small village there are a surprising number of good restaurants in town, as well as, nearby in Terranuova Bracciolini. If you're looking for a good Florentine steak be sure to visit Restaurante Il Cipresso in Loro. If you're in the mood for ice cream one of the best gelato shops in the area is located just before the bridge in the center of town.

We wanted to rent a real old Tuscan villa with our children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Already a year ago we were in love with the photos we saw of Villa Silvia, however the arrival
with 12 degrees and rain in the very cold villa, was a bit disappointed. The typical Italian uninviting white (dentist) lighting did not make it more atmospheric apart from some minor defects. Now 1 month later we look back on a fantastic period that exceeded our expectations;
what a beautiful villa, richly equipped with cupboards, paintings, books and other decorations and what a pleasure to sit in the large attractive garden where there is always shade and sun with a beautiful view.
The Tuscan sun heated up the large pool fairly quickly and the same for the temperature in the whole house, because it was cold in the beginning.
With great pleasure and gratitude we look back on a month of Villa Silvia,
“a place to love”.

We spent a lovely week in Villa Silvia in August 2018 - the house is just amazing and spacious and well equipped. Silvia the owner is smiling, very nice and helpfull. Highly recommended for children because the pool is great for them as well as for adults. The house is located in calm place in private area, you do not have to be worried. With car you can easily get to small shop nearby or bigger one in town. We highly recommmend restaurant Sasso Matto (10 km) - Serena the owner is very nice, speaks very good English and their food is simply amazing - also the enviromnent around restaurant is very nice.

Potencial hosts should know that owner lives in the house nearby and visit villa every day for taking your rubbish out, filling and cleaning the pool etc. My comment is that sometimes the man just appeared very suddenly (when you think you are alone...) There should be some time settled at the beggining of our stay so we knew in advance he was going to show up ...
Also he filled the pool each morning when we wanted to have a shower but the water pressure was low and we did not have any water available...
Even though you are on vacation be ready for waking up with owners dog barking or grass cutting from 7 a.m. We understand it was hot during the day for grass cutting but it bothered us quite a lot.
There is no air conditioning in the house which means you sleep in about 30 degrees in the middle of hot summer.
And the most annoying were mosquitoes. There are nets in windows, we brought some plug repellents or spray repellents but nothing stopped them - especially the children were terribly chipped from the mosquitoes.
The wifi was brokend when we came - my husband repaired it. The washing machine was broken too - the technician came on Wednesday and fully repaired it on Friday - the day before we left.

There are some limits, but everything is balanced by the beauty of the house. We really liked our vacation in Villa Silvia. Thank you.
