Property Description

The Palazzi del Papa farmhouse was built in the thirties by the Marquis Origo replacing an old inn where the Eminences used to rest when they were going through the nearby Francigena road.
The Villa stands in the centre of the natural reserve of Lucciola Bella.
Nowadays, the Company owns 100 ha cultivated with cereals and wheat which is mainly used for the Chianina-breeding. This activity is, among others, the most important one. From the vineyards a wonderful red DOC Orcia wine is produced. Of course, it is available to be tasted for all our kind guests. During the stay would be also possible to take a look at the breeding of the Chianina cow and at the poultry (chicken, ducks and rabbits).
Thanks to the recent restoration we can offer you four spacious apartments with every kind of comfort.
500 m from the property there you have a farm, where the owners live.
Here they can organize dinners on request, based on the farm' products, in a completely renewed hall.
It's possible to eat with our products: wine, olive oil, meat (Chianina)
It's possible buy our wine in bulk or bottled (Orcia DOC red)
At guests' disposal:
The pool size 11x4.5 m ,dept 1,2 m, is open from mid April to mid-October in the seasonal period may change.

Common laundry room with washing machine (euro 4/wash).
There is a common room available for the renters: dining room with kitchen and bathroom, where 20 people can be accommodated and can dine together. (On request to pay on the spot).

The little village called Contignano at 3 km with food shop and 1 restaurant, Pienza, San Quirico d'Orcia and Chianciano at 15 km.

The Podere 'Palazzi del Papa' is to Pienza, plunged therefore in the magic Val d'Orcia and, at the same time, not far from the fertile Valdichiana, famous territories since the Romans time for the production of oil, wine and wheat.
The structure offers manifold opportunities of a stay that conjugates the care of the body with excursions to cities of art, churches, museums and landscapes unchanged in the time; without, naturally, neglect the oenogastronomical culture made by our extra virgin oil, wines like the wine "Chianti", the "Nobile di Montepulciano" and the "Brunello di Montalcino", or food like the florentinian beefsteak and the sheep-cheese.
It's the ideal place for excursions and pilgrimages to take place in the space of one day, time in which you can visit some of the most famous places of Central Italy. St. Gimignano, Pisa, Orvieto, Todi, Assisi, the Abbeys of St. Galgano, Sant'Antimo and Monte Oliveto Maggiore are only some examples of all what is easily reachable.
The territory of the Val d'Orcia is the ideal place to make trekking, to ride horses and to make long runs with mountain-bike, crossing ways and paths with cypresses and pines, still walking through the typical tuscan landscape: olive-groves, vineyards, woods and cultivated fields.
