Villa Spotlight - Villa Laura

And we're back with another Villa Spotlight!

This time we're taking a trip to Foiano Della Chiana in the Arezzo countryside to a spectacular Villa that sleeps up to 15 people in 8 bedrooms!

Villa Laura has beautiful panoramic views and very stylish architecture and spacious gardens with its own private pool for guest use.

The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and there is plenty of counter space in the kitchen for cooking.

We think that one of the best thing about this villa is the room with the snooker table. It is perfect for relaxing and having fun in with friends and family. There is even a chess set in the corner!

Carnival is an event celebrated all over the world that sees people let loose before going into Lent, in anticipation of Easter. These colourful, joyous and, often, wild, events are famous, particularly New Orleans' Mardi Gras, Rio's Carnival, and Venice's Carnevale. However, while Tuscany may not be as famous for this event, her iterations are many and wonderful. The “Palio dei Somari” is an event that takes place each year on the Sunday following the 19th of March (Or on the 19th of March itself should it fall on a Sunday). Do you like horseracing? If you have heard of the "Palio di Siena" then brace yourselves for this twist on the traditional horse race between the "Contrade".
The Palio dei Somari is a race held for the prize of the "Palio" in which the Saint that inspired it (St.Joseph) is depicted. Every year the Palio can change hands from one district to another, depending on the champion, however, there is one difference between this race and that of Siena. Horses are not used in the race at all. Instead, the people race on donkeys. Yes, you did read that correctly.

I spent one month at La Farnetina. It was absolutely wonderful. Vasco, the owner, and daughter Laura took very good care of us. the property was even better that the photos! The was plenty of room for all our personal items. The pool was cold but on the sunny days very refreshing. The landscape was well kept and the floral plants beautiful. Dinner in the gazebo was so very enjoyable. It and the pool had outlets for me to plug in my Nano and speakers so we had music. The house had plug in for lap top, but the wifi was only outside. everything was clean and new. Washer (no dryer) and dishwasher worked great. Main bath had the shower & bidet, other bath just a toilet and sink. I did use the outdoor shower by the pool a lot since there were 5 of us girls! Loved that the house is located near A1 and well centered for great day trips. Camucia was 4 miles away at the base of Cortona and that's where we did our food shopping, post office, farmacia, pizza and gelato! The down side.... lots of flies so kept windows closed and no Dryer so hung clothes out on their rack. No iron too, but if asked Vasco would give you whatever you needed. I rate this place 5 stars. Especially if you want a peaceful place to come home to with privacy. Grazie Mille Easy Reserve - this was a good one!!

The property is easily accessible near the main motorway, but far away enough to be very peaceful with beautiful views of the local countryside. The owner was very friendly and helpful and went out of his way to get us coals for the BBQ when we ran out. The villa is very clean and comfortable and is generally well-equipped although it would benefit from a few more items of crockery and cooking utensils, especially if more than 4 people are staying. The pool and outside area is fantastic and perfect for al fresco dining - bring the mozzy spray though!
