Property Description

This beautiful, independent farmhouse with a private pool is located in the countryside of Siena and Arezzo. The property dates back to 1700 and was renovated by its current owners who have managed to keep as many original features as possible including the original terracotta floors, a very large fireplace on the first floor as well as a spacious living room on the ground floor converted from a stable. A beautiful lawn sits in front of the house which leads to a swimming pool. The owners live a few hundred meters away and are always happy to make suggestions and give advice to guests during their stay. Roughly 100 metres from the house is a barn where the owners keep two beautiful horses.
Thanks to its great location this rental is perfect as a base for visiting the beauty of the surrounding area: the Val d’Orcia, parts of the Chianti zone, Montalcino, Arezzo, Cortona, Lake Trasimeno etc. Just 14 km away lies the well-known spa center Rapolano Terme, with two large thermal spas which use sulfuric waters to relax and unwind, also during the coldest months of the year. A short distance away lies the medieval town of Lucignano, oval in shape with ancient walls.
The surrounding area offers the chance to take beautiful walks and hikes among the woods and the countryside.
Distances: Sinalunga with a wide variety of shops - 4 km, Lucignano - 6 km, Rapolano Terme - 14 km, Montepulciano - 28 km, Cortona - 34 km, Siena - 38 km, Arezzo - 40 km, Florence - 105 km.

We can't say enough great things about this villa...you are really on a farm, in villa that is 100's of years old, conveniently located to hit many of the wonderful Tuscan towns. Fully stocked and amazing kitchen, horses in the backyard and Grazia and Oscar (the owners) are so wonderful. 5 stars through and through.

We were a group of 6 middle aged women on a two week trip that included Vernazza, Lucca and Florence looking for a place to stay for a week in the Tuscan countryside that would be close enough for day trips to Sienna, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Cortona, and the Chianti wine region. This authentically restored farmhouse is on a quiet rural road leading up to the town of Farnetella, which has a church but no cafes or retail shops, resulting in just local traffic for the few people who still live up there. The local market for groceries and inexpensive wine is only 3 miles away in Sinalunga called Simply. This place exceeded our expectations in many ways. It is very clean, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms modernized, and the kitchen added on for those who like to cook is a dream. Sign up for pizza making night and pasta making night. With wine and dessert both are so much fun and affordable. They also make their own olive oil so buy some in a tin can to take home. There is a local pizzaria called Scroccazucche(Smashing Pumpkins) in Rigomagno which is much more than a pizzaria and always packed with locals even on a Sunday night so make reservations and do take away one night if you can't get in and don't feel like cooking. Don't miss historic Felsina vineyard not to far away in Chianti wine region that grows some grapes right there in Farnetella. Ask Grazia about the local spa in Rapolano. Lucignano is just 5 miles away and can be seen from the backyard. Better than going to more touristy towns we saw that week. Panzano is another hill top town with wine tastings, a famous butcher and great views of the valleys below. Can't wait to go back soon with my family. Enjoy!

We stayed in the villa in the beginning of August 2014 with two couples and two toddlers (17 months) and had a fantastic vacation. I would recommend this villa to anyone. The villa is clean, well maintained and kept by the friendly and hospitable owners. I really suggest to book the cooking classes and enjoy the dinners cooked by the owners, absolutely great food and wine. Our children enjoyed the horses which are on the same plot of land.

This villa was the last stop on our vacation and it was perfect after the hectic and crowded cities we visited. The owners were wonderful and very helpful. While a nice quiet spot, it was close to hillside village and other interesting places to visit. We also enjoyed using the kitchen to have relaxing meals at "home" rather than always eating out.

Podere Pievina is a beautiful property in an ideal location for those who want to experience life in Tuscany. The villa has been renovated and decorated to celebrate and maintain the character of this 18th century farmhouse while also providing very comfortable and generously appointed accommodations. The week spent at Podere Pievina was very relaxing and is an ideal spot for those traveling with children. The highlights included cooking homemade pasta with the owners as well as time spent getting to know the two horses that call Podere Pievina home. The graciousness, generosity and kindness of our hosts made the experience that much more amazing.

Despite rather cool, damp weather, we had a great stay at Podere Pievina. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating and helpful. We especially enjoyed our pasta making lesson with them, along with the wonderful meal that followed. Podere Pievina was our home base from which we explored Lucignano, Cortona, Montepulciano, La Foce Garden and more. We also took the train from Sinalunga to Florence, stayed one night and spent part of the next day in Siena.
