A while ago our booking team set off for a visit to the Podere Lo Spadino, a new Tuscan country house close to San Gimignano and one of the favorites of our guests!

A visit to this house is a visit to the Montagnani Family. Because we must tell you that this house was born from an idea, a difficult but a strongly desired wish that the owner Maris had since he was young: his idea to build a house entirely with his own strength and own hands.

According to several researches Maris made and in analyzing some manuscripts left by his ancestors, the Montagnani Family has lived some centuries on the territory where the province of Florence borders the province of Siena, close to San Gimignano. The characteristic symbols of this area are part of the family's coat of arms which can be found in the medieval Town Hall in Certaldo.

If you feel like eating the best ice-cream in the world, you're going to need to find a luxury villa in San Gimignano. Located in the central Piazza della Cisterna, known all over the world and visited by a large number of celebrities is the Gelateria Dondoli or Gelateria di Piazza. Lovely property in a great location. Delightful and welcoming owners. Great having a pool. Really quiet location, yet not too far from town. We walked to town to eat out most evenings, although the climb up the hill is steep and would be a challenge for anyone with fitness issues. Basically, this property was just what we were looking for.

Prachtige ligging. Heel nette woning en zwembad. Lakens en handdoeken waren aanwezig(misschien moet dit ergens vermeld worden op de website) Wij waren hier zééér tevreden!

Zeer degelijk en verzorgd, prachtige ligging, prettige eigenaren. Anders dan de foto's doen vermoeden zijn er voldoende schaduwplekken. Naast ouderechtpaar woont er in de zomer ook de Engels sprekende "uitbaatster" met haar jonge kinderen. Dit geeft gezelligheid en hulp waar gewenst, maar ook nog steeds voldoende privacy.

We rented both villas for two weeks in June.

The location was fantastic, very secluded but only a few minutes walk (albeit up a steep hill)to town.

The villas themselves were very clean and practical, and were extremely conmfortable. The views were amazing.

Without a doubt the highlight were Hugo and Lucia, who take care of the property and live there. They were wonderfuly hospitable and made us feel most welcome.

We had a great experienece and would recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

Rented both units (La Mura #1 & #2) for two weeks and was very satisfied with the accommodations and the hospitality of the owners. Very convenient to the village of San Gimignano (walking or driving) and yet very quiet and peaceful. Roberta speaks good English to help with your questions and Mama & Papa are quite dedicated to you enjoying yourself , even if though they do't speak English. Both units were clean and comfortable. Would recommend to any one who doesn't need a 5 Star hotel and enjoys the people as part of enjoying the culture.
