Excellent 5 /5We stayed at La Miccia for 14 nights as the base for our Tuscan holiday. It was almost perfect in every way. Stylishly renovated, with a real eye to the history of the property, La Miccia is a delightfully peaceful retreat from the tourist scene of so much of Tuscany. After a hard day driving Tuscany and visiting one of its many stunning attractions, we sat in the ancient piazza outside our equally ancient apartment and sipped our apperetivi as the sun set. The only sound to break the silence being the occasional ringing of the church and the laughter of the village kids as they rampaged through the piazza. Look up the word ‘idyll’ in the dictionary and you’ll find a photo of Pergine Valdarno and La Miccia.
The property would be perfect by removing the incongruous hot tub (and replacing with a suitable chaise lounge perhaps) and by the addition of the property’s own wireless router and Wi-Fi internet environment – not being able to use our laptop to communicate with home was a disappointment (although the charms of Pergine Valdarno soon had us forgetting home and the kids!)
Utterly charming, comfortable and welcoming – it was a wrench to leave La Miccia. We are already planning our return.
