Excellent 5 /5"The setting of Certaldo Alto is a great spot for soaking in the culture of Tuscany. It was a medieval town and still has an air of antiquity about it. The Guesthouse Boccaccio was perfectly situated, just a few steps from an enoteca (wine bar) and less than 3 minutes' walk to several great restaurants and attractions. The views from our room and the surrounding castle were breathtaking. The owner is a nice lady and was very helpful to us while we stayed there. They arranged for us to be picked up at the train station via private car, and dropped off at the train station when we departed. Overall, I am well pleased with our stay in Certaldo.
Positive comment: The view from our room, the convenience to restaurants and attractions, the cleanliness of the room. We had a full kitchen but didn't really use it.
Negative Comment: The wifi signal was a little weak, but adequate. We had to climb a flight of stairs with our luggage, but nothing too difficult. I believe they have a room on the ground floor, but I'd check if you have mobility issues.
Try out the pizza at Da Messer Boccaccio - it was fantastic. Cap off the night at Enoteca Boccaccio (just across the street.) The nearby restaurant, Il Castello, has breathtaking views from the patio and great food. The owner (Ms. Jane) speaks some English, but if you know a bit of Italian you'll probably have an easier time communicating. Also, don't try to walk from the train station to the Guesthouse on foot, if you have bags - you'll have a hard time. Either arrange for a car/taxi or use the funiculare (small train that takes you up the hill.) Once you've left your bags, getting around is easy, but be aware there are some fairly steep hills to climb".Would you recommend this property to a friend? Yes
