3. San Gimignano

Welcome to this weeks Villa Spotlight, in which we'll be covering a smaller villa in San Gimignano named Capannina.

Nestled on a hill, in the many hills around the small town of San Gimignano with gorgeous views all around of the many olive groves and vineyards that produce the wonderful Vernaccia di San Gimignano. In the distance you can even see the towers that the little medieval town is so well known for.

Well known as a tourist attraction in and of itself, San Gimignano attracts a multitude of visitors each and every year. Some decide to stay in and around the town, looking for that small town appeal, while others make a day trip of it from one of the larger towns such as Florence and Siena. No matter what way you decide to visit, San Gimignano is a beautiful site to see. Its many towers seem to rise majestically from the landscape as you approach it.

San Gimignano is a small medieval town about 60km southwest of Florence, 70km to the western coast of Italy, and 40km from Siena. Founded by the Etruscans in the third century B.C., the town has gone from a small hamlet to a major stopping point for traders to a small tourist town well known for the wine that is grown in its region. In the middle ages the town suddenly found itself on the Via Francigena, a main road running to Rome from France and much of Europe.

Villa Albeste is ideally situated in Toscana and the views of San Gimignano from the Villa are absolutely stunning. It is a beautifully well kept Villa with plenty of space for our family of four Adults. The owners were very friendly, accommodating and we have no complaints. We were even left fresh figs and peaches from their farm after the weekly clean of the Villa. The pool is cleaned daily so it is always clean and the furniture, beds etc. in the Villa are very comfortable. It is well equipped for home cooking with a local supermarket close by for the purchase of Toscana produce. We really had a most enjoyable stay at this property.

I would like to add the following comments about the villa I rented from you this past june:
Easy Reserve truly lived up to its name. My family had the most wonderful time in Italy last summer in large part due to the outstanding accommodations of Villa Albeste. Fully renovated with care and style the property offers all the North American amenities wrap in European luxury.
But the true jewel of this property is the people behind it. From the more than helpful key holder Sara to the friendly Bruni family members, you will be welcomed in the heart of Tuscany by wonderful people in the most extraordinary setting.
We will surely be returning to Italy but only if Villa Albeste is part of our itinerary.
