Ancient peasant homestead in the beautiful Valdorcia placed along the road which takes from Pienza to Bagno Vignoni. In the Middle Ages the importance of the Valdorcia area was primarily bound to the Via Francigena, a main European way of communication which crossed lengthwise Europe in its whole extent. It is believed that the farmhouse was born as a rest stop next to the Castle of Spedaletto, old fortress employed as a shelter for travellers. Only 4 km far the hamlet of BAGNO VIGNONI, renowned spa centre endowed with restaurants and nice shops of typical products; In a 10 km range there are both Pienza and San Quirico d'Orcia, quaint villages with shops and services of all kinds. The property is composed by two small houses, where the 3 apartments are placed, situated next to the farmhouse where the owners live. At guests disposal the lovely swimming pool (size 6x12 mt - depth 1,10-1,60 mt), the bicycles and the hammocks to relax in the open air. All the apartments have satellite tv, air conditioning, wi-fi internet access and share a common laundry room with washing machine and iron set. On request the owner can prepare breakfast.

Since the Etruscans and Romans - as evidenced by the numerous archaeological finds - the spa of Bagno Vignoni was attended by eminent personalities such as Pope Pius II, Santa Caterina da Siena, Lorenzo the Magnificent and many other artists who had elected the village as main holiday resort.

Pienza is a beautiful hilltop town in Siena province, overlooking the tranquil Val d’Orcia. The appartment itself and the location in Orcia valley are excelent. What did not satisfyus, was the fact that by 20th of May the pool was still out of order. Also internet was weak. Rest is great, host is very friendly, it's clean, lot of things in the appartment are pretty new or at least in good condition. Just dishes can be partially renewed/replaced, but acceptable.

[counter comment from the owners] The owners are very sorry for these disruptions, the weather was very bad, it was very cold (in fact, the guests have asked for some wood) and with the continuous rains it was not possible to open the pool earlier.
As for the internet, it was a very aggressive virus that blocked the wholelocal network and thus the slowness was due to that.

Sehr schön gelegene und liebevoll betreute Ferienwohnung im Herzen der südlichen Toskana am Oberlauf des Orciatales, guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge und Besichtigungen. Die Ferienwohnung hat eine gute Ausstattung, ist sehr gepflegt und hat einen wunderschönen Swimmingpool. Zur Begrüßung stand sogar ein toller Obstkorb für uns auf dem Tisch. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen bestimmt wieder. Nochmals vielen Dank an die Besitzerin und gute Seele der Casali dell Osteria Maria.
