Interior Description

The apartment is on the first and second floor of the Villa. It has been refurbished with high quality materials and fit out. All items, bed linens, bathroom linens, table wear, kitchen wear are selected with care for our guests. Despite its large size it is a very romantic lodge, ideal for honeymoons.
The layout of original Italian countryside houses was based on the connection between rooms without corridor. The living room, dining room and kitchen are on the first floor and form a large united living space. On the same floor there is the main bedroom. The stone stairs in the living room take to the corn room on the second floor. Another stair takes to the mezzanine floor including the Elf Room, two bathrooms and the laundry room.

Bedrooms

The main bedroom has corner windows and view on the countryside toward south and on the villa yard. It is furnished with an old king wooden bed, side tables, twin silk armchairs, a chest of drawers and a dressing table with mirrors. The windows have internal and external shutters.
The Corn room has windows on all four sides as it is the highest room of the house. The windows have internal heavy curtains made with original embroided linens, but they do not have external shutters. Old terracotta floor and wooden beam ceiling make the space unique. The only furnisher is a king bed, two side tables, a wooden desk and an armchair.
The Elf Bedroom has low white painted wooden celing which makes the room bright and cosy. It is furnished with a lovely oak laminated set made by a queen size wooden bed, a desk and chairs, a side table and a wardrobe. The window has internal and external shutters.
There is a walk-in wardrobe outside the bedrooms and another wardrobe is inside the main bathroom.

Bathrooms

The main bathroom is composed by a room with wooden floor accomodating a bath, double sink and a wardrobe, and a separate toilet. The toilet in travertine has wc, bidet and shower. A window overlooking the countryside opens on top of the bathtub.
The second bathroom in travertine includes a sink, wc, bidet and shower.

Kitchen

The spacious kitchen with twin corner windows opens on the dining room. It is furnished with a unitised white lacquered inclusive set with a white reconstituted stone top and an old white table with marble top and white wooden straw woven chairs. The ceiling is covered by a fresco painting.
The kitchen is fitted with dishwasher, oven, large fridge, freezer, kettle, new cookware and cutlery.

Sitting Room

Large room at the entrance of the apartment with al fresco painting on the ceiling. It include two sofas, coffee table, large flat screen television and an old kitchen cabinet. A door open into the dining room, the central room of the house. It is simply furnished with a rustic square wooden table with extensions and chairs, a china cabinet and a large design central lamp.

Guest Reviews for Villa Monastero

A superbly located, beautifully renovated, spacious apartment. Kitchen is so well appointed that we couldn't resist preparing at least one large and very enjoyable meal during our stay, in addition to breakfasts and snacks. There's a reasonable, small shop within walking distance, and it is easy enough to drive up to Siena for more serious provisions. The surrounding grounds are lovely and well kept, adding to the ambiance.

What a wonderful surprise! As high as our expectations were, they were exceeded. We had such a warm welcome from Señora Daniela, a beautiful and delicious fruit tart and a bottle of Proseco...and a surprisingly well-equipped kitchen and dining room. All in all, we wanted for almost nothing. We came equipped with a Cordon Bleu chef and even he was surprised and delighted (only wishing he had brought his knives!). The house had everything one would wish for...beautiful fresh flowers throughout...fresh herbs in the gardens....fresh eggs in ample supply from the señora...home-made olive oil...a dream. Believe in the pictures on the internet...very accurate portrayal of a lovely villa. Wonderful location...just carefully heed the directions when first arriving. I think it important to have a car, but even still, we ventured to Siena by bus...a bit of an adventure but in the end, fun. Cautions? There is a little store just up the road with a couple of very nasty women working there. Very nasty. Beautiful foodstuffs albeit very expensive. We found our way to the local supermarket, Conads...and it was great and they had everything we needed and after speaking with Daniela we found our way with ease. We shall return!

A special place. Spacious, bright, well set up with conveniences including a flat screen t.v., with some English channels, A lovely, modern kitchen, 2 full modern baths and decorated with charming antiques and interesting duck decoy collection. Although it was upstairs, we chose the tower bedrooms with arched and round windows with fabulous views of the old city. It felt like staying in a castle. The apartment is on the second floor, which gives views and privacy.
A nice outdoor sitting area - it fit well in the Siena atmosphere. From the villa we were close to Sienna and spent 4 days exploring the "caught in time" city. The duomo was the most beautiful we saw in all of Italy. Then we did a wine tour and 2 days of driving to Tuscan towns - always great food and wine.

We loved out stay at Villa Caprera. It was beautiful as well as clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. The location was great for day trips to most of the hill towns in Tuscany. Neighbors were very friendly. Be sure to visit the little market down on the corner. We had cappaccino there every morning. We enjoyed talking to Gabri and her husband (owners) even though we only speak a little Italian and they spoke a little English. We would definately go back!

Villa Monastero - a great villa and great location for spending time in Siena and the surrounding Toscana areas. We were warmly welcomed by Daniela and Anna after a long day of travel and immediately felt at home. The bedroom on the main floor was cozy and bed was soft and warm for the unusually cool and rainy nights. The villa was extremely convenient for the bus stop and Piazza Gramsci arrival (7 minute ride). After days exploring San Gimignano, Volterra, Firenze, Chianti wine region, and Montalcino wine regions, it was nice to stop at the salumeria across from the bus stop and chat with the locals before picking up food for an evening meal in the villa. Our only regret is we didn't have more than a week and with the rainy days we didn't get to chat with Mario and Daniela more on the patio enjoying a glass of wine and some food!!! Thanks for an amazing week in Toscana, Tina, Steve, Jennifer, & Greg

The property was beautiful. I would book another vaction there.

We loved our stay at Villa Caprera. The unit is really beautiful and has a very modern kitchen. The owners were very friendly and made us feel at home, helping us with our travel plans and organising restaurants etc. Nothing was a problem to them! We loved every minute of our stay and would highly recommend Villa Caprera.

We thought this was a great property. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and we liked that it was close to Siena.

What an unforgettable week we had at Villa Caprera! Located very close to Siena, it was an excellent 'base' for exploring Central Tuscany by car...that is when we had the inclination to leave this wonderful villa!
The splendid decor is a mix of antique and ultra-modern which provided a homey atmosphere with convenient amenities. We put the well equipped kitchen to good use for several meals (great markets & farm stands are nearby). Many items you would look for in a fine hotel were present: nice bathrooms, cozy linens, spotless furniture, & WIFI. Every window had a stunning view of the hills and olive groves surrounding the property!
Other useful features: a patio with tables and chairs provided, washing machine (but no dryer... normal for Italian households), high ceilings, DVD w/ small library of movies, & a dishwasher.
The property is represented by EasyReserve which made for a delightful booking experience.
Prior to our arrival, Simona the owner provided us with good practical information and was kind enough to secure a few dinner reservations around Tuscany for us.
There didn't seem to be any negative items at Villa Caprera, but on a practical note, potential renters should be aware that: 1) This is a 1 story walk-up apartment. 2) One of the 3 bedrooms is a loft up another flight of stairs...making it quite romantic, but probably not great for infirm guests... and 3) It wasn't easy to find the 1st time we drove there, as it's not indicated on any GPS (Simona warned us as much) & the main highway nearby has at least 4 different names. Once we arrived, I locked it into my GPS & we never had another problem.
Did I mention the stunning views from every window?? Breathtaking!!

What a wonderful experience! The Bencini family made us feel so welcome and the place is beautiful and homey and the view is lovely. The location is convenient to Siena. We had a dinner prepared for our group the first night and it was everything we hoped it would be. Grazie, grazie!

Fantastic villa in a great location, quite central to most places in Tuscany and very close to Sienna.
Owners on site and immediately make you feel very welcome.
Helpful local information was provided which ensured we saw all the sites of Tuscany as well as knew the easiest place to pick up a few groceries.
Villa was very clean and tidy and includes all the things anyone would need for their stay.
Highly recomended!

We enjoyed our stay at this villa. The owner was very friendly bringing us freshly squeezed olive oil, basil, and fresh tomatoes from her garden. This is a 3 bedroom villa with two king beds. The problem with one of the king room is that it is up a spiral stairs with no bathroom. This room is only for the young but not kids. One of the bathrooms was quite large but the other one small. The villa has a washing machine but no dryer which is common for Italy. We enjoyed this villa and definitely would recommend it to others.

We had a terrific 2 week stay at the apartment, using it as a base to explore Tuscany by car. The Bencini family were charming and very welcoming. The Villa exceeded our expectations, recently renovated but retaining it's period features. The bus within 300m of the apartment made Siena very accessible.

My Family and I just returned from Siena and were fortunate enough to stay at the Villa Caprera. We thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful apartment and the hospitality of the Bencini family. The Villa is a very nice marriage of the old and new. The place is fully renovated and accommodated 5 very comfortably. Everything has been lovingly renovated by the family's architect daughter. We stayed in the tower room which was beautiful albeit a little noisy at first light due to the birds but some ear plugs solved that problem. The owner's are on premises and are such kind people. Danielle baked us a cake and brought us fresh eggs and her husband Mario even offered to drive us into town the first night since we didn't have our rental car until the next day. It was just a wonderful, welcoming experience and we are very thankful for the memories. Extras: views of Siena, there is a small market right down the street, a small garden area with a grill, and Ilda the very friendly Nonna who will speak to you in Italian no matter if you understand or not. Negatives: nothing really, some low hallway ceilings so watch your head when heading to the bathroom. John N.- Washington, DC

Villa Caprera was a wonderful place to stay, the feeling of the property retained its old world charm with all the facilities of a modern property. The hosts were gracious and we could not have hoped for better. The location is about 3km from Sienna so a car is necessary.
