Bottega Pecchioli is a highly-regarded family-run winery and vineyard in Carmignano, Tuscany, not far from Florence. The history of the winery is long and goes back to when the surrounding area of Poggio alla Malva was a small farming village. The first note of the family institution records the Bottega Pecchioli and its “storage area of salt, oil and wine, corn, candles and coal.” In the second half of the 18th century, it became a precursor to what we know a food store to be today and over the years it has been various kinds of business including a tavern, bakery, milk and butter shop, a post office, and wine bar.

Experience the fantastic flavours of Tuscan ‘Slow Food’! These are traditional products that have been successfully passed down from generation to generation. They were vigorously promoted in a battle against the growing fast food movement in Italy in the late eighties.

While Chianti may be the most famous wine region in both Italy and Tuscany, it is not the only celebrated wine region in the country or the region. Tuscany is also home to Carmignano, a Tuscan wine region centered on the city of Carmignano, about 10 miles northwest of Florence. It has been praised for the high quality of its wines since the Middle Ages and was even singled out and favoured by Cosimo III de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. Protected since the 18th century, it was awarded Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC) status in 1975 and subsequently promoted to Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) status in 1990.

Come to Italy to visit the wonderful town of Carmignano, a delightful place in Prato province only twenty kilometres west of Florence and ten kilometres south of Prato.

This welcoming town has been and still is an important player in the famous DOCG Carmignano wine making tradition. Lots of delicious red, white and rose wines flow from this fruitful place so be sure to sample some if you come here!

Very Good 4^/5 Villa Review Rating Details

Beautiful location with views over Florence in the distance. Very nice pool set up with covered area to sit and eat.
There is no air conditioning which we had taken for granted . It should be spelled out. This was a problem as we had temperatures well over 30 degrees. Fans were produced which helped a little. There is also no wifi . Again we assumed that this would be available . It should be made clear.
There was also a serious mosquito problem and we were told that it was not possible to spray .
The electricity is astonishingly expensive . Don't expect to see much of your deposit back even if you are careful .
Rubbish is also an issue . The collections are complicated . In spite of complying with the rules we accumulated a lot of rubbish which was not collected and somehow that became our problem and we had to pay E50 for it to be taken away.
The reception was friendly and overall we had a good time and as mentioned above the location, lay out and pool facilities are very good but at this price ( with the electricity surcharge on top) I would expect aircon , wifi and a more accommodating approach to the rubbish problem.
