The two towns on the promontory are Porto Santo Stefano to the north-west and Porto Ercole, of more ancient origins, to the south-east. Porto Santo Stefano faces the northern side of the peninsula and is a picturesque seaside resort. The promenade designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and the harbour, where one encounters the town's true seafaring soul, are very popular. From here you can set off to explore the nearby island of Giglio. There are countless beaches and coves in Argentario: among them is the nearby Giannella beach with fine, clear sand and surrounded by a cobalt blue sea. Beautiful, but not equipped, are Cala del Gesso and Cala Grande, perfect for relaxing off the beaten track.
