Brigidini are thin, yellow-orange coloured cookies, not unlike waffles, that come from the village of Lamporecchio, near Pistoia. You will find them at almost every fair, events and food festival that takes place in Tuscany, often made fresh, right in front of you. They are one of the oldest sweets still made today in Tuscany and have even come to symbolise the region. Like many well-known products of Italian cuisine, they seem to have been born from a mistake. Local lore tells that they back to 1300, when Sister Brigida, made a pilgrimage, from her country of Sweden, to Tuscany. Here, she founded the Order of the “Brigidine” and, one day, while she was preparing the hosts for the Mass, she made a mistake. The result were some crumbly, thin and tasty anise cookies.

Tuscany is famous for several different craft traditions which continue to this day to a lesser or greater degree. There is gold-smithing of Arezzo, the leather-working of Mugello, the glass-blowing of Empoli, and the transforming of the marble of Volterra into all sorts of wonderful things, to name but a few. One of the most quietly impressive traditions of craft in all of Tuscany, however, has to be Montalbano’s history of truly extraordinary embroidery. For those who book a villa with pool in Lucca or a luxury villa in Florence and are planning day-trips in the area, the beautiful locality of Montalbano, in the province of Pistoia is worth visiting for its exceptional looks alone but is also a place where lovely things have also been made.

The Medici family have left an indelible mark on Tuscany that is still felt today, centuries after they were at the peak of their powers. Works of art, buildings, and even towns remain as a mark of their incredible legacy but so, too, do stories. One of the most compelling is the story of the mysterious death of Isabella de' Medici, the beloved daughter of Cosimo I de’ Medici, the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Famously beautiful and free-spirited, she was a well-known Florentine figure who died suddenly and unexpectedly at the Medici villa in Cerreto Guidi in 1576 during a hunting holiday.

According to her brother, "while she was washing her hair in the morning ... She was found by Signor Paolo Giordano on her knees, having immediately fallen dead.” This unlikely and dubious version of events was doubted and, according to information obtained by the Ferrarese ambassador, Ercole Cortile, she was actually "strangled at midday" by her husband in the presence of several named servants. It is thought that her husband, Paolo Giordano, killed Isabella because of an affair that she had had with Troilo Orsini or that her brother, the Grand Duke Francesco de’ Medici actually had ordered her death.

Loto een mooi appartement, wel onduidelijkheid over het koffiezetapparaat. Dit bleek een waterkoker te zijn. Geen goede messen aanwezig om iets goed te snijden. Verzorging was goed en de drukke weg was binnen niet te horen. Zwembad goed verzorgt zoals de omgeving. WIFI was niet echt goed je wordt er vaak uit gegooid als er veel mensen op zitten. Ook was dat niet dan was het ontvangst ook niet altijd goed van de WIFI.

Nous avons séjourné pendant 10jours sur l appartement de 5 personnes.
La situation de ce logement est exceptionnelle sur les sites touristiques de Toscane entre 45min et 1h30.
L environnement est très calme. On a passé des super moments au bord de la piscine. Le parc est exceptionnel pour les enfants. Tout est fait pour y être bien.
Le personnel au petit soin.

Abbiamo occupato 3 appartamenti veramente deliziosi e arredati con cura, la struttura si trova in una zona molto comoda per far visita a diversi luoghi special,(parco Pinocchio, Lucca, Pisa ecc..), all'interno do ognuno tutte le comodità. Consiglio il soggiorno in particolare alle famiglie con bambini.

The complex is located in a very convenient area to visit different special places (Pinocchio park, Lucca, Pisa etc ..). Internally each unit has all the comforts. I recommend the stay especially for families with children.
