Walk Around The Beautiful Garzoni Gardens In Tuscany!

The Villa Garzoni
If you’re passing through the cosy little town of Collodi in Pistoia province during your next vacation in Tuscany then you should certainly spend a few hours walking around the splendid Garzoni Gardens. Designed in 1652, the Garzoni gardens are a beautifully sculpted landscape that extends outwards from the grand Villa Garzoni.

The layout is nearly exactly the same today as it was back then. Tourists wishing to spend a few days in the area to explore them and other tourist attractions have a fine selection of beautiful villa rentals in Pescia, less than six kilometres away from the gardens.

The stunning Renaissance style geometry of the Garzoni Gardens with a hint of Baroque styling are truly magnificent to behold! There’s a fragrant array of flora and fauna that are growing throughout and pruned to perfection. Stroll around the winding paths and admire the awe inspiring sculptures and exquisite water fountains.
View of the gardens
One sculpture in particular that’s worth a look comprises of two women staring fiercely at each other, which represents the once violent rivalry between Lucca and Florence during the territory wars many centuries ago in Tuscany!

There are many caves, forested areas and quaint little amphitheatres all over this vast area. There’s even a giant hedge maze which legend has it; that if couples walk through it, they will strengthen their love as it represents the winding path of love!

The Garzoni Gardens are a nature haven for animals like ducks, cranes, black swans, peacocks, squirrels and many species of butterfly. Be sure to bring your binoculars and camera when you’re visiting! The grounds are open to visitors from the beginning of March until early November.

Whilst you’re in this scenic part of Tuscany, why not visit the lovely little town of Collodi, birthplace of the author of the famous children’s story ‘Pinocchio’. There’s a theme park nearby built in his honour as well as a huge fragrant citrus garden that’s well worth a visit also.

There’s so much to do and see in this beautiful area of Collodi and the Garzoni Gardens you might need a few days to get around it all!
