I cannot recommend this villa. We arrived to find most furniture very dusty, a dirty bath tub, filthy oven, food drived onto cooking utensils and cutlery and no hot water for the first 24 hours. The bed's mattress was so hard we had little rest while there. To make matters worse, after we purchased cleaning items and tidied up the place, the owner tried to keep our deposit when we checked out - saying (130 euros) were for "linens" and cleanup. (I have rented many villas and NEVER been charged for bed linens and towels.) He refused to look at the photos (taken when we arrived) of the filty oven, a refrigerator that would not properly shut,. someone else's hair in the bathtub and on its floor, dead bugs on the floor, and refused to go and see how much cleaner we left it. Had we been able, we would have moved out but his wofe suffers from Parkinston's disease and I did not wish to further upset her. (The photos he put on the web site are misleading, to say the least.) Finally, we had our privacy invaded when, in the wee hours of the morning, someone entered the villa (from a hall door leading to his residence) without so much as a tap on our door or request to enter. I hope the photos I am posting will help others in making their decision. The rags shown are the ones we used to dust and c;ean the entry way and one of the bathrooms.

This is classic! It's not actually a castle, well kind of a castle. Travel is complicated so a car is prefered. The tram down to the town is regular in the summer so travel is complicated. Jan's English is not as good as her Portugese or Italian but we love her. Thank you Jan. We stayed 2 extra days and had to change rooms (our fault we didn't realize we would like it this much). Il Dolphin restaurant in town became our second home. They are friendly and the food is inexpensive and wonderful. A half liter of house chianti is 3 euros, and it's wonderful. We are already planning a return trip. So include them in your plans but be nice to our friends. The Wi-fi is weak, Yes there are things to complain about. BUT the people and the wonderful room and the wonderful environment make it exceptional. See the forest, dont look at the trees. Luv You Jan.

Excellent value for the price. Very comfortable, the owner was so nice and infomative. The area is quiet and beautiful. The roads are winding and steep, a manual transmission is advised but the places you see are gorgeous. The villa was just right for us. Comfortable and clean. would give it a thumbs up

We enjoyed our stay very much. The property was charming and the setting was beautiful. The location was perfect for visits to the village of San Gimignano and also for day trips to other places we wanted to see, including Pisa, Florence and Sienna. I would love to go back!

We were pleasantly suprised by Montegufoni 4 and had the BEST time there. Its close proximity to town for supplies and the peace and quiet were great. The restaurant was superb. The Montegufoni red wine is EXCELLENT!!! We even asked if we could get some shipped back to Australia.The staff were more than helpful and we would return there any time at all. Rated 10/10

We stayed for 8 days in December 2010 and it was a perfect vacation for us. The property is located just outside San Gimignano and like others have written, has a lovely view. We enjoyed watching the changes in the skyline as the weather changed. The place is cozy and comfortable. We did not use the salon except for one evening, which is detached from the bedroom and kitchen/dining area. While there was plenty of wood to heat it, it was just easier to stay in the main part of the apartment. The owner, Marco Bracali and his family couldn't have been nicer in every way. They had put out a few Christmas touches, left cookies for us, and were supportive when we needed them. We would return here again and recommend it for others. The only remark is that the bathroom is a bit small but other than that, it's a special place to be.

We are a family of 5 that stayed at Casa Simona during December and it was wonderful. The owners were extremely welcoming and charming and the villa itself is wonderful - very clean and well maintained. We highly recommend it. The only thing I found missing was internet access.

My family of six with four children aged 2-12 loved our stay at this beautiful, quirky old home. It is in a great location in a tiny hamlet. Steps away from a market, veggie/fruit shop, bakery and farm fresh meat/cheese shop. We were able to travel to Florence, Siena, Chianti and Montepulciano wine tasting and several small towns like Cortona all in about an hours drive. The very best part was the kindness of the owners. We loved our cooking class. Marina the owner was so understanding of our children. She allowed them to play in her home while we cooked. She said the most beautiful words a traveling parent can hear " do not worry let them play, they can not hurt anything". The only concern I would have would be that the stairs in the house do not have a railing and are open to the living room area. My two and three year old loved climbing them and did not seem in any danger but younger children would need to be supervised.

The place is very cozy, the view - fantastic, the owners - discreet and friendly. I would recommend Le Rondini to anyone who needs a week to recharge batteries.
