We got the last week of the season in this wonderful house. House and all the services met all our needs. All in all a great house and base to see Tuscany.

Having stayed in the villa in October I would suggest you take warm clothing with you as the property is situated high up in the hills where the temperature drops quite low in the evening. There is a wood burning fire which heats the radiators and once up to heat the house becomes quite cosy. I think as one previous reviewer put it quite succinctly, to just do a weeks shopping and hide away for the rest of the time. I say this as although it’s only approx 13km from Cortona, it takes about 30 mins to get there as the road has a lot of bends. The villa itself has all the amenities and Margherita was a wonderful host albeit our communication was somewhat limited as our Italian is not great and she doesn’t speak much English. The countryside was quite stunning different from other parts of Tuscany, being more rugged. Finally I have to say that the food was quite delicious in each of the restaurants we visited, would well recommend if you’re a foody.

We stayed at Appartamento La Corte in early October of this year 2021. Although we had seen photos of this exceptional apartment we could never imagine how amazing it would be in reality. It surpassed all our expectations. The representative who met with us to access the apartment was wonderful. So helpful and co-operative. It was an amazing base for us to enjoy our favourite town in Tuscany. Cortona. We didn't get to cook at the apartment so cannot comment on the facilities in that respect but showers and utility area were excellent. The apartment is dark but this tends to be a standard in old Tuscan houses to give relief from the heat of the sun.

This Castello is a fabulous experience due to the history and the setting of the Castello. The Staff is really helpful and accommodating. You are 5 minutes away from wonderful restaurants, markets and on the Strada di Chianti.
The accommodations are beautiful but not excellent because the kitchens are sparsely outfitted, no microwave, no toaster, only a coffee maker, two burner gas cooktop and a small refrigerator. It is hard to feed a family for a week out of the kitchens. There is no air conditioning in any of the rooms, nor screens on the windows. As long as you are prepared for this you will have a wonderful time at the Castello Montegufoni.

Very cosy house, a lovely huge garden with old olive trees, beautiful terrace and pool area.The approx. 260 degree view to the ocean and into the mountains is amazing. The owner Riccardo is absolutely friendly and helpful, he reacts fast if you need something. And we got great tipps of what to do and where to eat.(And even a surprise present for our silver wedding:-))
Besides the view, we absolutely enjoyed the privatness and absolute quietness!
To go into the tiny town with its restaurant (good Tuscan food „di terra“ and wonderful view), bar and minimarket, it takes only minutes by foot. For returning from the restaurant dont forget a flashlight (depending on year season) for the non-lit parts on the way. And since it gets steep: dont drink too much;-)
The only thing we propose to take is lazy chairs for the terrace if you want to stay there comfortable during the day besides the dining chairs.
All in all a perfect place to be! We loved it and will be back!
