San Filippo - Montalcino
The four vineyards - La Storta, Le Raffiche, Le Lucére and La Smarrita - stand in the east area of Montalcino and all have an excellent exposure. This zone is particularly cool, with a good night-day temperature range, making it particularly suitable for growing Sangiovese and the wines tend rather towards elegance and finesse than towards powerfulness. San Filippo's philosophy is to make the wine "in the vineyard", organic and chemical fertilizers have been totally eliminated, the vines are to "work" on their own without extra aid.
