The dynamic city of Coreglia Antelminelli has a history that dates back to the 10th century. It was briefly under Florentine control in the 14th century but after the city was won back from the Florentines, it became part of the Republic of Lucca. The commune status that the city enjoys today dates back to 1538. Ever since the 19th century, this community has been a major artistic centre in Tuscany and visitors will find a lot of interesting surprises here!
There are several historic buildings to see, and several of the squares host beautiful old houses. The upper village is home to the Museum of Plaster Figurines and Emigration.
It can be found in the Vanni Palace, which is one of the most popular historical buildings in the area. This museum is a fascinating place for all ages, and helps visitors discover just how plaster figurines became a major part of art in this region.
