Eat All Around The World At Arezzo's Mercato Internazionale

Shopping at a market

Love both Tuscan food and global cuisine, at large? Well, why not combine both and eat really well while you enjoy a stay in one of our villas in Arezzo this autumn? Come enjoy the harvest season and local dishes alongside flavours from all over the world at the annual Mercato Internazionale!

Spread over 3km, along the pretty little streets of Arezzo’s lovely and charming historic centre, the Mercato Internazionale lines the thoroughfares of the Medieval town with stands and stalls selling street foods, products, delicacies, and handcrafted specialities from 170 international operators hailing from 35 different countries, with all five continents represented! Stalls are to be open daily for the duration of the event, from 9am to 2am, and will be accompanied by a vibrant schedule of all sorts of other events involving music, dance, children's entertainment, and more. Basically, for the three days of the market, the whole historic centre turns into one big party - a party with lots of excellent food, of course!

Arezzo

You will be able to enjoy Belgian and Irish beers, butter biscuits from Brittany, Dutch flowers and cheeses, Russian caviar and vodka, paella and sangria from Spain, German sauerkraut, souvlaki from Greece, and a long list of other incredible national specialities, dishes, and products. Plus, other special wares and goods from different countries will also be on display to admire and purchase, from African silverware to fabrics from Flanders.

A special food truck area will be set up to sell various foods from around the world and for visitors to take a load off, sit down, and enjoy after wandering around the market, with a section specially dedicated to gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian cuisine. Piazza San Jacopo, meanwhile, will be hosting a space for sales and tastings of locally-produced wine and beer as well as a curation of regional food specialities such as seasonal fruits and vegetables like pumpkins, mushrooms, and chestnuts, fried ciacce, and much more besides.

Pastries at a market

The 2025 edition of the Mercato Internazionale is set to take place on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of October and, as noted, will kick off each day in the morning, with events running late into the night. So, if you simply want to shop in the market, you are interested in grabbing a special meal (with endless choices on offer!), you want to bring the kids along to be entertained and broaden their horizons, you’d like to spend a whole day wandering around to see it all, or you’re up for partying the night away, there are ideal options for everyone at the event!

In addition to enjoying eating in the local restaurants, shopping freshly harvested wonders and typically Tuscan delights in the regular local markets and supermarkets, and heading out on day-trips to nearby wineries to sample amazing local vintages alongside perfect foodie pairings, this special event each October only broadens the culinary opportunities to be enjoyed on vacation in Tuscany even further. For the committed foodie who wants to make the most of a trip to Tuscany during the harvest season, it is a great reason to book a holiday rental in Arezzo
