Azienda Agricola Montefioralle is a small, family-run Chianti Classico winery, located in the small medieval hamlet of Montefioralle, close to the town of Greve in Chianti. This lovely winery is made up of only 2 hectares (5 acres) of vineyard, making them one of the smallest-sized wineries among the consortium of Chianti Classico producers.
Azienda Agricola Montefioralle is a small, family-run Chianti Classico winery, located in the small medieval hamlet of Montefioralle, close to the town of Greve in Chianti. Their output of wine, as well, is relatively small, with around 10,000 bottles leaving their cellar each year. This small production, however, ensures that the Sieni family, the owners, can take care of every little detail and put out incredibly high quality Chianti Classico wine. They also pay attention the sustainability of production processes and have abandoned the use of chemical herbicides and pesticide treatments. Established in 1964 by Renato Sieni, upon buying the estate from the local priests of Montefioralle, who had been running it in the traditional manner for centuries, the winery has been working towards becoming an organic estate since 2015, making great strides along the way.
Private tastings are possible by appointment only and involve the Sieni family talking you through their Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva, IGT and Vin Santo. Depending on the time of year, tastings take place in the small room above the cellar or outdoors in the square surrounded by vineyards, where you will find the most astoundingly beautiful view across the Chianti countryside and Montefioralle village. Along with the tastings, you can also visit the vineyards and the winery.
There are no set times but appointments for visits can be made from Monday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm. Just remember to check well in advance as they can become very busy in the high season!
