Manciano was once a bustling market town in the area and grew to even greater importance when it became part of Sienese territory in the 1400s. Its surrounding walls were fortified around 1429 and became a lookout town that protected the area from enemy attacks.

Also part of the Manciano municipality is the town of Saturnia. This ancient Etruscan town is most famous for its deliciously hot thermal springs that attract thousands of tourists each year.

There’s no nicer way to relax after a day of touring around than to soak in these warm mineral rich waters to sooth your aches and pains!

Another nearby town is the one of Montemerano that is home to its very own leaning tower called ‘Torre di San Lorenzo'. While you’re in the area, a visit to Marsiliana town, also part of the Manciano territory is well worth your while.
