Situated in the province of Grosseto in Tuscany is the pretty little town of Capalbio. This lovely tourist attraction is also close to other welcoming towns like Manciano and Orbetello.

This medieval town is the most south western municipality in Tuscany, close to the border with the region of Latium. Its origins are believed to date back as far as 806AD.

Capalbio is enveloped by strong fortress walls that were reinforced around the time that the town’s castle was built. Called the fortress Aldobrandesca, this domineering structure had its own grand watchtower that kept lookout over the area. Close to the castle is the grand Collacchioni palace that is well worth a visit to admire its intricate exterior and interior decor.

Between the months of May and October, there are several exciting festivals and fairs taking places in Capalbio. Experience the joys of the Short Film Festival and sample the delicious local food and wine of the area at one of many fairs and celebrations that take place during these busy months.

Spend a few hours at a local attraction beside Garovecchio village called the Garden of Tarot Cards. An artist called Niki de Sante Phalle designed twenty-two intriguing sculptures here inspired by the major Arcanes of the Tarot cards!
