Il Borghetto is one of the most remarkable and beautiful places in Italy. The villa is nestled on a hill near the medieval city of San Gimignano. It is surrounded by vineyards and overlooks the magnificent Tuscan country side. The villa is a perfect vacation spot for individuals who are simply looking for a place to unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet or for individuals who want to enjoy the Italy countryside while having the ability to see the major attractions, such as Florence, Pisa, Volterra and Siena.
The owners and staff of Il Borghetto are extremely accommodating and welcoming to all of their guests. They are readily available to answer any questions the guests may have, and have written information readily available about all main attractions, tours, and events. The owners take pride in ensuring that the Il Borghetto does not feel like a “hotel” but feels more like home, and it works.
Our stay at Il Borghetto was the best vacation we have had, and we have had the opportunity to vacation throughout Europe and Italy. We would highly recommend Il Borghetto to anyone and cannot wait to return soon.

This is a fabulous property with an outstanding view. If you are unsure of the location (Chianciano Terme), I can assure you that it is centrally located to all major points of interest - Siena, Florence, Montalcino etc... We were originally suppose to have a villa very near Montalcino but this location served us better for day tripping. The villa is immaculate and the owner takes great pride in maintaining the property. We were a party of 5 people and there was more than ample space for a larger group. I would highly recommend this property.

[Owner reply: We have made many improvements and upgrades (including new sofas and chairs covers and replaced the linen) that could not be done during the rental season and the villa is now really in good condition.] We were generally disappointed with our stay at La Madonnina. A combination of the price charged, the photos published of the villa on the website and the description on the website had led us to believe that we would be staying in a beautifully appointed and luxurious property. The opposite was in fact the case. The general standard of the fixtures and fittings in the villa were shabby and well worn. For example, the sink in the kitchen leaked badly into the cupboard below resulting in an unpleasant smell and making that cupboard unusable. In addition, the linen in the property was stained, threadbare and mismatched. The sofas in the sitting room are badly stained and very uninviting. The cushions for the sunloungers were covered in cat hair and stains. The crockery and kitchenware in the kitchen was old, damaged and of poor quality. The washing machine and tumble dryer in the laundry were in a terrible state - they are old-fashioned and inefficient and rusting. None of these met the standard which I would expect given the price asked for this villa and the description it is given as a "luxury" villa. The photos on the website were obviously taken when the villa had been newly refurbished (and this must have been some time ago). The reality was very different from that shown in the photos.
The location of the villa also lets it down. The access road was far narrower and steeper than we were prepared for. In addition, there was no signage to indicate the villa's location which resulted in considerable confusion on arrival. We had also not been made aware that the villa was sited in amongst some other properties. This meant that the peace which we had anticipated was not realised. For example, we had to put up with the noise of a cement mixer in an adjoining property and the noise of howling and barking dogs (especially at night) from another property.

We considered ourselves lucky to have found this wonderful house close to the village of Lucignano! The location is excellent for days trips (Cortona, Siena, Montepulciano), but a peaceful oasis if you feel like going nowhere. The kitchen is not fancy, but had all the right tools for preparing meals with fresh local food. The bedrooms were all comfortable, and the bathrooms were spotless. The owners were lovely: friendly and helpful when we needed them, but unobtrusive. The pool area was beautifully kept with an outdoor dining area and lounges/umbrellas. Our only regret was that our stay was not longer than one week!
