The property is in good location although some trafic noise as it is on road, but the back is lovely with the river and river park.
The villa is old and in need of restoration and a much needed 'face lift'.
Lots of stairs to the bedrooms so if you have heavy suitcases - no good!
Close to shops and Bagni Di Lucca is very pretty.

Very nice owners and an interesting historical building. very beutiful pool surroundings.

We did however miss aircondition due to the hot temperature.

Had a perfect stay here. Apartment was larger than expected. All very neat and clean - no complaints. View was amazing. There are plenty of hammocks and seats to lounge around in and the pool is great for hot days. Cortona is beautiful. There's a dirt track that can be followed to the centre of town and was only 10-15 minute up hill walk. Don't rely on taxi's to get around, especially late at night. We were lucky a kind person who lives near the train station gave us a lift home one night. If you've got a car or can work out how to catch buses Cortona is a great location to base yourself so you can do day trip to Sienna or Florence or even out to Pisa. But if not there is plenty to see and do around Cortona. A cooking class, free events at the Teatro, plenty of shops and restaurants. Or just soak up the atmosphere. The people in the area are also very lovely.

We stayed at Castello di Montegufoni 4-11 July 2011. Everyone there was amazingly friendly and helpful! The reception folks gave excellent advice and were a great help on where to go, what to see, and how to get there -- they are real experts on the area. They were so very nice our entire stay, and they even loaned us 2 fans for use while we were there. The chef in their restaurant made us really feel like family. He came out to greet the guests every night. My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary there and he really made the celebration dinner special!
About the only complaint I can think of is no air conditioning, and bring bug spray since you'll have to leave the windows open at night.
In all, Montegufoni is beyond beautiful with an incredible location that's central to all of Tuscany! I would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone!
