Review Details:
The villa itself is beautiful and in a perfect location. The host, however, was not particularly welcoming, treating us in a very brusque manner. On our arrival, instead of a friendly welcome, we were met with a series of strict rules (do not spill anything, keep villa tidy, do not stain/scratch sink, etc) delivered in a patronising manner. We were also reproached for not having a paper copy of our voucher, instead presenting an electronic version. Our subsequent encounter with the owner was later in the week when her husband accidentally left the hosepipe on by the pool and we were shouted at before having to explain that it most certainly was not our fault. On our departure we were due to pay for the final clean and baby cot (230EUR total). When we gave the owner 2 100 Euro notes, she again shouted at us, telling us that she needed smaller change.
Having said all of this, we did not see the owner for the majority of the week and were able to enjoy the serene surroundings in peace. The villa was in pristine condition and the pool was perfect.
I think the owner could adopt a friendlier approach and could prepare her guests for some of her specific requests in advance (for example, the voucher could state clearly that a printed copy is essential and that the cash payment has to be made in 50 eur notes or smaller). She is clearly very precious of her beautiful property, but her highly strung manner made it difficult to relax at times, which is not conducive to the best holiday experience. Perhaps a more relaxed approach would help make future guest more comfortable.
