The Palazzo Pitti is a vast and elaborate Renaissance palace in the city of Florence. Built on the south side of the River Arno close to the Ponte Vecchio, the original building here dates as far back as 1458 before later extensions were added.

Stay in a beautiful vacation rental in Florence where you can conveniently visit this majestic palace as well as many other cultural treasures of the city.

It was the luxury home of a wealthy banker called Luca Pitti who was once comrade with the other banking family, the Medici’s before they turned into bitter rivals in later years.

Palazzo Pitti was later bought by the Medici family in 1549 and became the primary residence of the most prominent members of this banking dynasty based in Florence.
