What a wonderful week spent with friends who booked two of the other appartments in the Villa. The Villa is tucked away on the side of a hill in Northeastern Tuscany. The appartments where clean and bright and beautifully and comfortably decorated. Stefano and Sergio were superb hosts. We dined there twice and the food was delicious, creative and inexpensive.

La Poggetta is a great property for a large family gathering or a group of families holidaying together.
The photos do not do the property justice, the house itself, grounds, pool, tennis courts etc are all well cared for and maintained.
As we were 3 couples with 4 young children there was plenty of suitable family rooms to accomodate us all.
Pros:
The villa is in a great location for visiting Siena, Florence and Chianti, San Giminano etc. and there are a few local towns with in a 15 min walk or 5 min drive of the villa.
There is an amazing little kitchen garden, which the owner insisted we avail of during our stay - so we enjoyed the delicious tomatoes, aubergines, lettuce, fresh basil and a range of herbs through out our stay.
As we had very small children it was difficult to go out for an evening meal as group, so we took advantage of the services of Lorenzo the local proprietor of a deli in the next town. He was really part of the highlight of the holiday, he inobtrusively arrived and cooked fabulous local tuscan food, brought different local wines to try and was full of knowledge of the area/vineyards/outlet stores....
He even fixed a small problem with had the cooker. If you want to enjoy a restaurant type meal in the comfort of the villa definately give him a call.
We had a sick child while on our stay and there is an excellent hospital near by which provided a really prompt and helpful service. There was and english speaking doctor and the staff were really friendly.
Cons
The villa is meant to be child friendly and while it is is fully equipped with cots/ high chair etc, if you have adventurous newly walking children there are lots of opens steps and stairs and the pool is very exposed. With a small bit of additional fencing around the pool area to secure access to it and the steps this would be the perfect villa as there is lots of garden for the children to run around in safely.
The owners are lovely and very friendly, although only speak italian so make sure you have your phrase book out when organising times of departure etc!
Overall though we would highly recommend this villa - we thorougly enjoyed our stay here.

This is a beautiful apartment, beautifully decorated, and very handily situated for central Florence. Would recommend to anyone, and would like to return.
The owners are extremely friendly and the apartment's history fascinating.
A couple of downsides:
The bath is irritating: there is no plug, so you have to use it as a shower.
Very small kitchen, somewhat eccentrically equipped -- don't try elaborate cooking.
The mattress on the main double bed has seen better days: is quite uncomfortable.

We rented the property in September 2010 (7 people) and were warmly welcomed and first impressions of this wonderful property exceeded the photos that were on the website. Amazing setting and views. Absolutely ideal for visiting local towns/cities and other places of interest. It was really spacious and comfortable. The pool and barbeque areas were excellent for relaxing and eating. Bedrooms were large, but we all had to make the beds first. Spare bedding would have been useful as nights were just beginning to get a little cooler. Kitchen equipment was good, but it would have been very useful to have an electric kettle rather than boiling up water in a saucepan. [Owner comment - an electric kettle has been added to the kitchen]Just a few suggestions - We had to pay for the cleaning of the house (which we already knew about, but surely including this in the rental price would be better. It might be useful for the owners to have charcoal available for the first evening. We ate and cooked outside for most of the week, so found the cost for gas (50 euros) was high. We only used the hob for boiling water for hot drinks and the occasional other use. All in all, a splendid property, well maintained and comfortable and we would be happy to return. Thank you for a great week.
