We are pleased that we chose Il Pigionale as home base for our 2 weeks in Tuscany. The property provided everything the four of us needed. The village had an excellent restaurant within easy walking distance as well as a butcher, fruit and vegetable market, drug store, small grocery store and even a bar!

This is a lovely property less than thirty minutes drive from Siena. We stayed there with twelve friends for a week and had a fantastic time. It acted as a comfortable base for us to explore the Tuscany region and as a great location to chill out.

We loved the history associated with the villa and its old world charm. There were a variety of rooms in different configurations - everyone in our group was able to find something that suited them.

We also paid for dinner on two nights at the property. The cook, Vana, did a fantastic job and both meals were wonderful.

The villa is only a five minute walk into Ville Di Corsano where there is a shop, a pharmacy a post office and quite a good local trattoria.

I highly recommend the property and would go there again.

The accommodation was very spacious and well equipped and clean. The area is very picturesque and relaxing. It was very well located to San Gimignano (but not by public transport, you need a car to stay here). The apartment is in the downstairs area of a working vineyard and farm, there are lots of cats hanging around outside, but they do not bother the guests (just be sure to open the doors quickly, as do they think it is a great game to try and get into the apartments). The owners were very friendly and helpful. Please also note that if you have a MacBook, the wireless internet may not work - it did not work on ours, and we were told this has happened before with Macs.

Although the villa was beautiful, there were issues. Apparently the hot water heaters were not functioning properly. [Owner reply: Sorry for the inconvenience, the plumbing has all been fixed.] On our first day we had no hot water in the master bath. The owner was apologetic and responded the next day and repaired it, however we then discovered that the repair had resulted in no hot water in the other baths. Another day, another repair and then no hot water in the first. This continued back and forth through our entire stay. Fact was that we did not have a single day there when all the baths had hot water, so we wasted a lot of time sharing which ever bath had hot water that day. Additionally, our visit was in October and the weather was quite cool. We found that some, but not all of the radiators worked, so some of the bedrooms were left cold all night.
Also, the directions provided were inadequate, and when we stopped to ask in Greve in Chaniti, no one had heard of it. We were fortunate to find a kind sole in town who made phone calls to help us find the place. We later discovered that the actually name of the property was Il Luco, and not Villa Di Petriolo.
I guess I would sum up our stay by saying that the property and grounds were beautiful but be prepared to be cold! (Cold showers in 8 degrees C are quite eye-opening). For the amount of money we paid, we expected at the very least reliable heat and hot water. This was disappointing.

This property was fantastic. Not only is it incredibly nice, the rooms beautiful, the views stunning, the gardens and common areas clean. But the staff here were incredible helpful and eager to help us enjoy the area as best as we could. Jacopo gave us several tips for driving around to the local wineries as well as a map that helped us get un-lost several times. Everything about our stay here was perfect. And the food at the restaurant is amazing as well! We loved Poggibonsi, Colle di val d'Elsa and everything else about Tuscany. Highly recommended, will definitely come back if in the area.
