Tuscany's reputation as being the home of high culture is due in no small part to the fact that it is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. Of course, you don't have to be an art lover to appreciate all that this particular area has to offer.

If beautiful scenery is what you have in mind, Tuscany has some of the most breathtaking and beautiful natural landscapes that you will ever see.

The Uccellina Park in Tuscany is a protected area that covers over one hundred square kilometers along the coast and includes everything from pine forests to wetlands and sand dunes.

If the first things that come to mind when you think of an Italian vacation are art, museums and ancient ruins, you will be pleasantly surprised by the Garden of Tarot. Located near Capalbio, the Garden of Tarot is unlike any other garden in the world!

Created by a French artist over a period of seventeen years, this garden was assembled one piece at a time and features some of the most eye catching sculptures in the world! Made using a variety of materials including ceramics, cement, iron, and even glass, some of the sculptures tower as high as fifteen meters and are inspired by the twenty two figures of the tarot cards.

Each of the sculptures are open to the visitor’s personal interpretation and are so incredibly detailed that it may take more than one trip to appreciate all of the work and beauty displayed here.

*Sadly, as of the 1st of August, 2016, the owners of the park decided to close it down due to family reasons.*

Visit the famous and unique Parco Preistorico in the province of Pisa in Tuscany, close to the quaint town of Peccioli. This wonderful history park was founded by the Ghironi family, on whose land, many dinosaur fossils and other interesting archaeological finds were discovered. They decided to research how to create an adventure park based on these monumental excavations and then created the first, and now one of the finest adventure parks in Tuscany!

Tourists wishing to stay in the Peccioli area for a few days have plenty of fantastic villas available to relax and enjoy a peaceful break in.

Tourists holidaying anywhere in the north of Italy are sure to enjoy a day or two of walking along the famous Via Francigena path to the Vatican City in Rome. This ancient route is believed to originate in France, hence the name Via Francigena meaning ‘The road that comes from France’. But many historians believe that the route begins as far away as Canterbury in England and runs through France, Switzerland and finally down through Italy into Rome. Tourists wishing to walk along part of this fascinating pilgrim pathway have a huge array of accommodation along Via Francigena, especially in Italy.

A trip to Tuscany wouldn’t be complete without a visit to one of the biggest and most majestic castles in the region, The Rocca di Pierle in the Cortona area, beside the village of Pierle. The ruins of this magnificent structure still stand tall over Val di Pierle and many of its walls are still intact! Visitors would thoroughly enjoy a close up view of the castle and could stay in one of many farmhouse accommodation in the Cortona area for a day or two while they explore this beautiful area with a nice selection of historical and cultural activities to engage in.
