Villa Spotlight: Discover The Stunning Gem That Is Podere D'Asso

Podere D'Asso

Our luxury villas in Tuscany are so defined by having certain attributes – a beautiful house with impressive grounds, excellent amenities, and great views and/or an amazing setting. There are variations, of course, but these are the basic ingredients and elements that Podere D’Asso has in spades! Set in the rolling green hills of Tuscany, among cypresses, olive groves, and vineyards, this gem of a property is in the most pastoral spot and is perfect for those who are looking to leave daily life far behind and well and truly get away from it all.

Surroundings of Podere D'Asso

Bought by the current owners in 2009 when they fell in love with the beauty of the site and the surrounding landscape, they rebuilt the pre-existing old farmhouse on the grounds, maintaining the Tuscan style but bringing it all up to 21st century standards, resulting in a gorgeous luxury home with lots of character and charm. Designed by architect Mario Rivelli, with interiors by the Norwegian interior designer Anna Bauer, and with grounds masterfully tamed by the American landscape architect Patricia McCobb, the property is a collaborative effort of masters in their craft who come from various parts of the world but who are all based in Tuscany and familiar with local traditions and styles to create something new while honouring the location.

Positioned on 2.7 acres in a spot that is surrounded by lawns and an olive grove and consisting of two houses - the main house and the guest house - the spacious and luxurious Podere D’Asso can comfortably accommodate up to twelve guests in six bedrooms with eight bathrooms. In the famously idyllic Orcia Valley, it is just 2km from the town of San Giovanni D’Asso and not far from lovely old hill towns such as Montalcino (with its famous Brunello di Montalcino wines), Montepulciano (where Vino Nobile di Montepulciano comes from), and Arezzo (with its renowned monthly antiques market). Furthermore, the likes of Florence and Siena are easily reached on day trips from the house.

The incredibly chic interiors at Podere D’Asso feature high ceilings, lots of windows with ample natural light, a mixture of antique furnishings and modern touches, plenty of lamps for a cosy glow, a good deal of wood and beautiful stone and marble throughout, interesting works of art and tasteful decorative objects, and pops of pattern and colour for visual interest. All of this comes together harmoniously so that you will feel as though you are living inside the pages of an interiors magazine.

In the main house, on the ground floor, you will find a large living room with plenty of plush seating, a fireplace, a satellite television, and an exit out onto the terrace; a spacious dining room also with a fireplace and exit to the garden; two twin bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms; and a service room with a washing machine, dryer and iron. On the first floor there is another living room with a fireplace, satellite television, and exit to a terrace; the well-equipped and incredibly stylish kitchen with all of the mod-cons you could need, another dining space, and lots of room and light as well as another exit out onto the terrace (making it easy to bring meals outdoors); two more en suite bedrooms, both with king size beds; and a separate bathroom.

Outside, we have the final and, perhaps, most beautiful space. With the greenery of the aforementioned lawns and olive groves all around, there are various terraces with areas to sit out and enjoy the views and make the most of this stunning setting as well as an incredible private pool with sun loungers all around it. A spacious dining area for taking meals al fresco is located next to the pool in a covered arcade with a fireplace and a terrace with a barbecue across from it, allowing you to enjoy the pleasures of eating outdoors while protecting you from the elements. Seating areas and couches are also in this arcade, making it easy to watch kids in the pool or hang out with a good book by the water. Another special feature is the bocce court that is located between the two houses.

Some of the extra services that are also available upon request and at extra cost at Podere D’Asso include the possibility to arrange customised guided cultural tours of the surrounding area (possible in both Italian and English), wine tastings, scooter/bike rentals (also possible with a guide), massages at the villa, cooking classes in your own kitchen, dinners and lunches prepared at the house by a professional chef, taxi services, and a maid service.

With some availability still for summer 2024, prices start from as little as €1800 per night, working out as relatively inexpensive per person per night if fully occupied with all 12 possible guests – a steal for a villa that previous guest, Kurt K. describes as, “Just a big WOOOW to everything there. Your holiday dreams will come true there and you will return home with the wish to go back there instantly.” So book now and experience this incredible gem and a perfect vacation in Tuscany on your next getaway!
