Located in the heart of the historic centre of the city on via de’ Servi 66R, the street that connects Piazza del Duomo and Piazza S.S. Annunziata, the private museum and its travelling exhibitions are dedicated to the genius of da Vinci and takes the over 4000 pages of scientific manuscripts of his studies, sketches, and designs such as those of the “Flight of Birds” and the “Codex Atlanticus” and brings them to life. Reconstructions of his machines and inventions made in wood by the staff of the WMA (Worldwide Museum Activities) are scattered around the small museum and are an extraordinary sight to behold.
All of these machines are functional and have descriptions next to them in multiple languages including English, Italian, Russian, Spanish, French and German explaining what they were intended to be used for. Some are interactive and some are not to be touched with signs indicating as much but all can be closely examined. Children, in particular, will love this part of the experience and will get some hands on experience in order to better learn about and explore the mind and inventions of da Vinci.
