Podere La Chiesa is an instantly recognisable winery set amongst the rolling hills of the province of Pisa in Tuscany due to its main building with its unique architectural character: a beautiful modern structure that looks somewhat like a block of Swiss cheese with round openings that perforate the exterior. Located near the village of Casanova, 30km south-east of the city of Pisa, it is a celebrated place where excellent wines are produced and where said excellent wines can be sampled on wine-tasting tours of the premises. Just find a vacation rental in Pisa and make the trip out to this beautiful place to experience it all for yourself!
This special winery was established in the 2000s by Palma Tonacci and Maurizio Iannantuono, who had harboured the idea of establishing their own wine brand since the nineties and then spent years visiting countless wineries in their research about wine-making. Wine is a passion for both as Palma, who is from Monti Montignoso, a small town in the province of Massa Carrara, grew up around her family’s restaurant and remembers her father and uncle’s passionate discussions about who made the best wine fondly, and Maurizio arrived to Pisa to study at the University from Molise and fell madly in love with Tuscan cuisine and wine, in particular. As a result of all this consideration and time and passion, Podere La Chiesa is rather extraordinary.
