As we discussed in the last post, theme parks are probably not something that you associate with Tuscany and, admittedly, you won't find the likes of Disneyland or Universal Studios. However, Tuscany has her own unique theme parks, adventures parks and water parks that are great fun and something a little different; especially welcome to any kids (or childlike adults) in the group that might grow tired of museums and architectural gems. So, if you are planning on visiting Tuscany and are looking for a family activity that is a little off the beaten track, look no further than this list of some of her best theme parks!
Similar to Il Gigante Adventure Park in Florence, Lucca has its own adventure park to offer: Bagno di Lucca Canyon Park. If you've found your luxury villa in Lucca and are looking for a bit of an adventure, time outdoors and a little bit physical exertion mixed in with fun, then it's a perfect option.

Located in Scesta, near Cocciglia, on the Brennero road towards Abetone, it is the first adventure park developed in a canyon in Italy. Here you can go rafting on the river, zoom down a zip line and clamber over the wire suspension bridge across the canyon, among other things, all inside a canyon above a crystal blue river in the stunning scenery of Lucca.
The route through the park features zip-lines more than 100 meters long, suspended above the rapids and calm waters inside the Cocciglia Gorges. After gliding along the zip-line above the Lima rapids, you will then move to a sequence of secured acrobatic passages, zig-zagging inside the canyon, right under the old "Ponte Nero" where a 16th Century Church is located, to the final zip line named "Blue Lagoon Zip Line" for the blue waters beneath. It offers a light workout and an exhilarating experience and unforgettable memories.

For something a little different to the previous parks on the list, here's one for the animal lovers. Poppi Zoo Park is located in the middle of the Casentino Valley, in the province of Arezzo and is open every day year round. It was established in 1972 by Dr. Roberto Mattoni, a veterinary surgeon, as the first Zoo Park of European Fauna. The perfect place for a pleasant day out, just find a villa with pool in Arezzo and drop by!
The park is on 50 hectares of land and is home to brown bears, lynxes, beavers, European skunks, weasels, blue and white foxes, raccoons, wolves, deer, mouflon (a species of wild sheep), buffalo, Siberian reindeer, donkeys from Asinara and Amiata and ponies. There are also numerous bird species, including the golden Chinese pheasant, Eagle-Owls, owls, black kites, buzzards, tawny eagles and several ostriches and emus though they aren't European animals (the first from Africa, the second from Australia). With a playground area, a restaurant, a coffee bar and a picnic area, it has everything you need for a great day out!
