There are about 50 dive centers in Tuscany, located along the 270 kilometers of coastline between Livorno and Argentario, with 15 on the Island of Elba and 10 in Argentario and on the Island of Giglio. This stunning coastline and the seven islands of the Tuscan Archipelago are both beautiful and well-preserved and are perfect for diving. Discover the many different species of fish and other underwater creatures that inhabit the area, as well as the beauty, shape and oddities of the reefs, beaches and bays, all clearly visible through the crystal clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea and largely protected Tuscan Coast. Just find a vacation rental on the Tuscan Coast and start exploring it for yourself.
1. Porto Santo Stefano

For those new to diving, there are lots of schools in Porto Santo Stefano, which will be able to introduce you to both diving and the area. Porto Santo Stefano is also where you can easily rent scuba equipment, if you already know what you are doing. If the depths of the sea frighten you a little and you are not quite ready for scuba diving, just getting a mask and going snorkelling is also incredibly rewarding and will reveal a lot of the underwater beauty that this area has to offer visitors.

2. Giannutri and Giglio Island

More seasoned divers can have great fun in the waters surrounding Giannutri Island and Giglio Island. Giannutri Island is a highly protected area and motorised vehicles are banned from the surrounding waters, making scuba diving the only way in. As a result, the sea environment is perfectly undisturbed and very beautiful, though bear in mind that the island only accepts a certain number of tourists a day. Just check it out, rent any necessary equipment from Porto Santo Stefano and hop on the next ferry to Giannutri Island. There are even some sunken ships that can be discovered and explored in sea here, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

3. Baratti Gulf

The beautiful Baratti Gulf is home to the Baratti Diving Center, which has an excellent strategic position that makes it easy to practice different types of diving, and several locations to choose from such as the submerged Etruscan Coast and the shipwrecks from the First and Second World War.
