Situated on a cliff overlooking Albegna Valley, Rocchette di Fazio was named after Fazio Cacciaconti of Trequanda who lorded over a "Rocchetta" here which means ‘small castle’.

Walk around the now deconsecrated 13th century Pieve of Santa Cristina, which was the property of the legendary Knights Templar and the main house of worship in Rocchette di Fazio.
Also once property of the Knights Templar, the Hospital of St. John was constructed in the 14th century and served as a place of rest and recuperation for travellers and pilgrims passing through the area.
The noble Tuscan family called the Aldobrandeschi built the castle of Rocchette di Fazio in the 12th century which encompassed the remains of the original small castle here, the courthouse and the former town hall.
