The west of Elba Island is quite mountainous and is home to a wide selection of animals including the wild boar. The picturesque Mount Capanne dominates the landscape here, standing at an impressive height of 1,018 metres.
Nicknamed the ‘Roof of the Tuscan Archipelago’, Mount Capanne is an ideal climbing expedition and from its peak, tourists can enjoy panoramic views of the island, Elba’s sister islands and a glimpse of the French Island of Corsica.The centre of Elba Island is quite flat and measures at a width of just four kilometres.
