Grassina, a lovely little village close to Florence is probably most famous for its Christmas and Easter parades but it has a whole host of other wonderful attractions to offer you too! Also worth a look around is the pretty church of St. Michael the archangel. It plays a role during the religious enactment of the ‘passion of Christ’ which has taken place in Grassina since 1634. Every year on Good Friday, over 400 townsfolk dress up in costume and act out many scenes taken from this story in the bible. Watch in awe as the crowd solemnly act out scenes from the hours leading up to and including the crucifixion of Jesus.
