The ‘Cacio al Fuso’ takes place on the first Sunday of September in Pienza. This town is famous for producing some of the best pecorino cheese in Italy and visitors will get to try all the local samples if they visit during this fascinating festival. The main event during Cacio al Fuso is the exciting cheese rolling competition! Many locals bring their circle of cheese to a street in the town and attempt to roll it within a small target circle marked on the ground.

Also on the same date in the town of Scarperia the townsfolk dress in traditional costume and celebrate the founding of their great town. Many thrilling games take place among the locals the following weekend on the 8th September and would be a great experience for tourists to enjoy.
The ‘Festa della Rificolona’ which is the Feast of the Lanterns in Florence city, takes place on the 7th and 8th of September. It’s one of the city’s oldest celebrations and originated when important farmers for the countryside dressed in their best clothes to travel into the biggest agricultural market of the year. They would wake very early in the morning and walk into the city with lanterns hung on sticks to guide them on their path.
