Have You Seen The Pyramids Of Florence?

Cascine Park pyramid
Many tourists come and go to Florence without even realising that this city is home to some spectacular pyramids of its own! Stay at a vacation rental in Florence and travel around to see some of these unusual gems.

Close to the Pavoniere pool in the Cascine Park of Florence is one such Egyptian style pyramid. It stands at ten metres tall and was actually used as a type of fridge to store ice and dairy products!

Passers-by might even mistake it for a tomb but its pyramid shape is plain to see.
Boboli gardens Obleisk
Visit the Boboli gardens surrounding the lavish Pitti Palace where a tall Egyptian obelisk stands. It was bought and transported from Rome by the wealthy Medici family.

Obelisks usually stood as twinned pillar entrances to ancient Egyptian temples.

Two pyramids in Florence worth seeing are one honouring the English poet Percival Shelley and the other is situated in a Jewish cemetery which serves as a burial ceremony chapel.
Interior of Stibbert museum
Explore the garden of the Stibbert museum in Florence.

An artificial lake was constructed here with an island rising in the centre. And on that island, a pyramid shaped temple is built! The Stibbert museum itself is a fascinating place to visit as well.

It displays ancient costumes and weapons which were once owned by a British business man called Frederick Stibbert.
