The town of Forte dei Marmi is a popular seaside resort among tourists and for those who have shopaholic tendencies; the town centre is brimming with exquisite designer shops and boutiques! The nearby fort that was built at the end of the 18th century was used to store and guard the marble before it was shipped all over the world, hence the name of the town, Forte dei Marmi, meaning ‘Fort of the Marbles’.
