Historic building dating back to the 12th century, originally the chapel of the Santa Maria church, located a short distance from the hamlet of Casaglia, about 10 km from splendid San Gimignano. Over the centuries the chapel was deconsecrated, turned into a lookout tower, and then a place where farmers from the surrounding countryside gathered for country festivals. The Tuscan countryside, San Gimignano and Certaldo. Leaving the main road, a country lane lined with cypress trees and surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, wheat fields and woods, leads us to Caselsa. The unique world-famous San Gimignano with its 'beautiful towers' lies behind us and to one side is the medieval village of Certaldo Alta, Boccaccio's birthplace also famous for Della Robbia's ceramics, Benozzo Gozzoli's frescoes, Pier Francesco Fiorentino and other well-known medieval painters.
The ancient Tower and the completely restored farmhouse. Caselsa's name comes from the River Elsa which flows through the valley. It was the last house to the North of a large farm and originally only consisted of a single 'Tower' built explicitly as a look out for approaching strangers. Over the years the building was enlarged several times and in fact the various periods of construction are easy to see. In 1992 the whole building was completely renovated and divided into 7 apartments, each equipped with all the modern comforts (Satellite-TV, W-Fi Internet access) and with a completely fenced swimming pool (6x12m), barbecue. Each apartment has its own garden equipped with a table and chairs. The property is completely fenced.
Geographic position ideal to visit the main art cities. It takes less than an hour by train or car to the major historic centres: Florence, Siena, Volterra, Lucca and Pisa. On request, a chef could cook typical Tuscan menues directly at your holiday apartment.

The property is on two hectares of fenced-in grounds, with a well cared for and ample lawn surrounding the villa and pool.
The pool (18m x 4m) can be heated to a maximum temperature of 29° depending on the weather conditions and time of year, offers a stunning view across the landscape and is accessible via a ladder (opening date 15/03 - 28/10).
